Organisation Information: 

Bouygues Travaux Publics (TP) and Laing O'Rourke, two of Europe's most dynamic engineering and construction specialists, are working together in a joint venture named BYLOR to deliver the main civil engineering works at Hinkley Point C (HPC) worth over £2.8 billion.

Bylor are pushing the boundaries of innovation and modern technology while delivering high quality construction on a massive scale. Bylor have already broken the UK record for the largest continuous concrete pour of 9,000m3 of concrete.

Purpose of the role:

Responsible for the delivery of training and assessment for a range of programmes and qualifications, Designing material development, training, assessment and course delivery.

As a Training Development Advisor you will support the Health & Safety Managers to ensure the project teams are following health & safety regulations, legislation and policies and minimising occupational risk on site.

 

Key responsibilities and specific accountabilities:

  • for guiding and supporting allocated project teams in the implementation of the Bylor behavioural programme
  • to guide and support allocated project teams by giving robust HS&E advice and able to coach in HS&E matters.
  • hazards or deficiencies, rate and rank risk to enable effective evaluation and communication of any required actions
  • inspections and audits of projects, establishments and offices, and ensure these are undertaken in compliance with the compliance monitoring programme.
  • out investigations and produce thorough and comprehensive reports that address the underlying issues and not just the end result (i.e the injury/damage)
  • compliance and ensure project teams are implementing the relevant parts of the Bylor safety management systems (SMS) and identify corrective action where required.
  • the project teams in key HSE project risks and solutions
  • HSE subcontractor assessments and input into work winning tenders
  • the behavioural tools as part of a continuous improvement cycle.

 

Essential skills & knowledge:

Technical Skills:

  • have relevant experience in Health & Safety within a construction environment
  • environmental knowledge to support the Bylor environmental agenda
  • understanding of HSE&E legislation

 

Interpersonal Skills:

  • strong communicator with the ability to work within a team environment
  • to coach a team in key HSE project risks
  • other team members across all functions and has a one team approach.
  • a professional image and promotes the values of the project
  • commitment to work to processes
  • to minimise waste in resources and materials

 

Education & Qualifications:

  • Level 3 in Education & Training or Competence based interview against job role
  • NEBOSH

 

Additional Information:

All positions with Bylor are employed directly with either Laing O'Rourke or Bouygues Travaux Public and include competitive salaries, private medical insurance, company pension schemes and annual holiday allowance. Some grades will also include a company car allowance.

 

Unless stated otherwise all positions are based at Hinkley Point C in Somerset.

Somerset boasts beautiful English countryside, an attractive coastline, interesting towns and villages along with easy access to the M5 and within proximity to the cities of Bristol and Exeter.
