Senior Project Planner (4901)

Do you have previous expertise with structures, Superstructures, or reinforced concrete as a senior project planner?  We are looking for an expert Senior Project Planner to join the team on our prestigious project currently underway in Oxford.

The Expanded Group provides a total capability in the early construction phases of major projects, providing an end-to-end solution or a bespoke choice of services, backed by a central technical design and engineering resource.

Oxford Ellison The EIT Oxford Campus will have 30,000m2 of research laboratories, an oncology and preventative care clinic, plus educational and meeting spaces.

As a Senior Project Planner, you will be able to develop a Programme Strategy for clients and apply the required knowledge of processes and techniques that need to be considered in strategic planning and the purpose of it, in the success of a project.

Taking pride in delivering a challenging and ever-changing scheme for the client is the ultimate accomplishment.

What will the role look like?

  • Ensuring that all programmes are compliant with the Project requirements and developing and agree a logical sequence of events ensuring that the most economical/advantageous construction strategy is adopted.
  • Analysing performance and advising the project team of likely impact and recommend improvements.
  • Provide strategic programmes – tender, procurement, design, construction, short term.
  • Able to contribute to the risks, opportunities and commercial implications of a tender bid
  • Able to present time-related material using a variety of techniques and methods; providing effective communication, high-quality submission and presentation material
  • Able to contribute to the risks, opportunities and commercial implications of a Tender Bid
  • Able to independently produce processes and systems to manage contracts for more complex projects
  • Carries out forensic analysis of programme data and interfaces with client teams to build effective relationships
  • Applies a comprehensive knowledge of the different types of contracts to ensure control measures are aligned with the contract risk and commercial opportunities are optimised
  • Liaise with the site team to check on progress, and issues and review planned progress to ensure programme is maintained.

What skills & experience are we looking for?

  • Desired Degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering or similar sector-related
  • CIOB Membership
  • Modelling and 4D planning, as well as Asta or P6 – preferably both to a high standard
  • Major project experience is ideal however we also encourage applications from candidates who have led the planning and control functions on smaller-scale projects and implemented robust project controls
  • Ability to analyse, collate and utilise a range of data and information for reporting and forecasting
  • Able to ascertain which tasks are urgent or important and the level of accuracy required
  • Lateral thinker to spot trends/issues in production data
