Senior Electrical Technical Manager (4589)

We are looking for an energetic, enthusiastic and people focused Electrically biased Senior Electrical Technical Manager to join Laing O'Rourke's UK MEICA team.

This Senior Electrical Technical Manager will be part of the MEICA Systems Engineering & Assurance Team, which is there to ensure technical excellence, assurance and performance across all our projects in the UK.

The role will involve working for our Chief Electrical Engineer and will require travelling to projects on a regular basis.

What will the role look like?

  • Work collaboratively and professionally with the MEICA System Engineering and Assurance Team.
  • Establish, refresh and maintain new and existing company ‘Standard Equipment and Minimum Requirements Specifications', to ensure our contractual and statutory requirements are met, and to eliminate all wasteful activities e.g. rectification of defective works.
  • Liaise with the company's procurement clusters leads and the company's preferred and approved supply chain to ensure the ‘Standard Equipment and Minimum Requirements Specifications' are robust but not restrictive to trading.
  • Establish, refresh and maintain new and existing company ‘Inspection and Testing Procedures' (ITPs).
  • Support the Chief Electrical Engineer in conducting technical audits/peer reviews on projects to ensure technical compliance with our contractual and statutory requirements.
  • Support the Chief Electrical Engineer with technical enquiries and interventions on projects.
  • Ensure technical lessons learnt are captured and shared with other projects to drive consistency by authoring Technical Guidance Notes or Technical Bulletins.
  • Work with the company's training department in providing relevant and applicable Continuing Professional Development (CPD) training to develop staff.
  • Support development of industry standards and guidance by involvement in technical committees, working groups etc.
  • Support project teams with technical issues that may arise during bid, pre-construction and construction stages.
  • Support the business units as they transition to Infrastructure type projects involving upskilling staff and development of supply chain and our ‘Standard Equipment and Minimum Requirements Specifications'
  • Role will involve periodically visiting projects around the UK.
  • Role either to be based in Dartford or Sale, Manchester.

What skills & experience are we looking for?

  • Experience in MEICA design – from concept to completion.
  • Degree in Electrical Engineering / other appropriate construction related qualification.
  • A deep and broad experience managing the design of construction or building services projects.
