Senior Structural Engineer
An excellent opportunity has arisen to join our internal design team as a Senior Structural Engineer. You will play a key role in shaping some of the UK's most iconic projects, working closely with project teams to develop innovative, engineered solutions that enable successful project delivery. This role offers the chance to contribute technical expertise, mentor junior professionals, and drive design improvements within our department.
About the Role
- Provide safe, practical, and cost-effective design solutions in accordance with project procedures, British and European standards, and UK construction health and safety legislation.
- Develop conceptual and detailed designs, including calculations, design risk assessments, and sketches/drawings/models as appropriate.
- Collaborate with our specialist CAD team to bring designs to life.
- Work closely with construction teams to ensure designs align with practical site requirements and sequencing.
- Coordinate design efforts with a wide range of suppliers and external consultants.
- Identify opportunities for design or process improvements and contribute to refining department procedures.
- Encourage and implement innovative thinking to solve complex structural challenges.
Senior Responsibilities
- Mentor and support junior engineers and design professionals to enhance their development.
- Drive the creation of new ideas and innovative schemes for challenging projects.
- Drive innovation in structural design.
- Solve complex engineering challenges efficiently.
Your Experience
- BEng/MEng in Civil or Structural Engineering
- Minimum 7 years of structural design experience
- Extensive experience with Eurocodes, British Standards, and BS5975
- Hands-on expertise in designing with concrete, steel, and timber (EN & BS codes)
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office software and structural analysis tools
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Strong understanding of UK Health and Safety legislation
- Ability to manage consultants, sub-consultants, suppliers, and sub-contractors effectively
