Project Engineer for Civils and Geotechnical

Location: Dartford then moving to site in Port Talbot, Wales (Other locations consider in pre-construction)

Can you liaise with Technical Leads, Design, H&S and Quality to get a major site ready for delivery? Then bring your experience of setting up and then delivering a complex project to Laing O'Rourke. What skills & experience are we looking for?

  • Work with function and delivery leads to produce the ECI phase and pre-construction plans
  • Work with the temporary works department to produce the site establishment designs, including designs for access roads, piling mats and compound designs.
  • Work with the Environmental and sustainability team to develop the required consent inputs.
  • Appointed as TWC
  • Work with the Site manager/Construction managers to ensure alignment for mobilisation.  
  • Liaising with the client and other stakeholders.
  • Review and understand the client scope, and supplier requirements to ensure requirements are captured within the ECI and pre construction plans.
  • Liaise with the in-house delivery teams and subcontractors to ensure works are planned in compliance with client standards and the scope.
  • Manage teams of in-house engineering professionals such as Site, Section and Senior Engineers.
  • Maintain a positive safety culture on site, attending the morning briefings and coordination meetings where sub-contractors works are coordinated for the day ahead.

Technical Capabilities

  • Strong Civil Engineering knowledge or Structural Engineering on large concrete projects
  • Comfortable in working with departmental leads to produce required management plans.
  • Appointed to TWC or with the required experience.
  • CPCS Appointed person
  • Experience working in a highly regulated environment such as Rail or Nuclear preferred.
  • Communicates professionally, both orally and in writing. Shares information and relays instructions.
  • Works as One Team - Respects and co-operates with the team, sharing problems and accepting support. Adopts a friendly and approachable manner.

Desirable Qualifications

  • Degree qualified or appropriate route into Civil or Structural Engineering
  • Chartered or working towards Chartership

The role will require time in the office for planning pre-construction. This means a period of 5 – 6 months in Dartford and moving to site in Port Talbot when ready.
