Electrical & Mechanical Project Engineer

Location: Letchmoore, Margam, Dartford, Birmingham

Are you ready to take responsibility for complex upgrade and new substation builds? Bring your HV technical skills to Laing O'Rourke and in return we will supercharge your career.

Can you collaborate with Consultants, OEMs to compile equipment specification for referencing client technical specifications? We need your support to lead engineering teams to progress the design process. Are you able to work across different disciplines like civil engineering and M&E? Then this could be the job for you.

As a key interface for the review meetings between client, design teams, OEMs and M&E teams, you will support delivery of this complex project. This includes identifying design, engineering and commissioning deliverables for the programme.

You will support the Client design, verification and assurance process to ensure they are met and controlled.

What skills & experience are we looking for?

  • Control, report and agree mitigation actions to ensure design and engineering deliverables remain on programme
  • Manage, record, report and close out engineering design and change control actions
  • Control as-built documentation and drawings to client standards
  • Manage and control all M&E non-conformances
  • Ensure technical and quality compliance with assured designs and specifications during construction
  • Bring abnormalities / deviations to the attention of the engineering manager
  • Make adjustments to manage changes and ensure proactive mitigation
  • Work closely with the operations on site to create a consistent approach to deliverables

Technical Capabilities and training

  • Up to 400KV substation experience
  • Degree in Electrical ot Mechanical Engineering or similar level of training
  • NEC project knowledge
  • Engineering and design quality audits
  • National Grid (Or similar entity) registration process
  • National Grid (Or similar) transmission procedures – Technical specifications, guidance notes, design handbooks

Desirable

  • Circa 5 years in an engineering lead role for power projects
  • Leadership qualities and good interpersonal skills
  • Direct delivery, one team approach with supply chain, engineering teams, project teams and client
