Estimator for Geotechnical and Hard Landscaping

Location: Manchester, Dartford Considered

Do you have expertise in geotechnical or hard / soft landscaping? Do you want to work on some of the biggest projects the UK has to offer? Then this is the role for you. As an Estimator you will support to Vetter UK and bring added value to existing operations. Are you ready to utilise your technical expertise and bring forward innovation? Then keep reading to find out more.

As an Estimator you will support complex projects by liaising with external consultants and clients. You will help to implement core process and governance in the tendering process for consistent preparation of documentation. Can you contribute towards the our work winning strategy, collaborating with Senior Estimators and Bid Managers? Take a look at are some of the day to day duties.

  • Preparation of prime cost estimates.
  • Basic comparison of subcontractors and supplier quotations.
  • Completion of fully considered tenders at settlement stage.
  • Advise on finalisation matters of risk, qualification and margin.
  • Successful post tender negotiations.
  • Provide estimating support in pre-bid submissions/pre-qualification documents.
  • Procurement – exposure to various mechanisms for the procurement of projects
  • Pricing – competent to establish a forecast of net prime cost, preliminary costing and cost planning.
  • Package management – skills in supply chain enquiry generation and management.
  • Bid administration – competent to manage the tendering and estimating process.

As part of this role we can help you build your knowledge in other areas. If you have exposure to the following this will give you a great platform to build from.

  • Previous use of Estimating software (Candy or similar).
  • Good communication skills, both written and oral.
  • Ability to integrate and be part of a team
  • Ability to use initiative to think ahead, learn, plan and be able to work unsupervised for periods of time.

Which qualifications can help in this sort of role?

  • HNC / Cognate Degree in Construction or Civil Engineering;
  • Progression towards membership of a recognised professional body (RICS, CIOB, ICE, IMechE)

Essential Experience

  • Experience of groundworks or hard landscaping schemes.
  • Can carry out quantification from drawings and prepare pricing schedules.
