Job Description:
We are currently seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Estimator to join our team at Vetter to assist in our growth into the groundworks and hard landscaping markets. In this key role, you will be responsible for producing precise and comprehensive cost estimates for our varied types of projects. Working closely with the project managers, engineers, and subcontractors, you will ensure all aspects of projects are costed accurately, meeting both client and company requirements.
Key Responsibilities:
- Produce accurate cost estimates for groundworks projects, including excavation, drainage, foundations, and other civil engineering works.
- Analyse tender documents, drawings, and specifications to prepare thorough cost estimates.
- Collaborate with clients, suppliers, and subcontractors to gather pricing information and identify project needs.
- Prepare Bills of Quantities (BOQ) and perform detailed take-offs from project documents.
- Identify risks and suggest cost-effective alternatives without compromising on quality or safety.
- Work alongside project managers to ensure seamless transition from estimation to project execution.
- Support tender submissions, presenting estimates to clients as required.
Requirements:
- Proven experience as an Estimator in the groundworks or civil engineering sector.
- In-depth knowledge of groundworks processes (excavation, drainage, foundations, etc.) and related costs.
- Strong numerical, analytical, and problem-solving abilities.
- Ability to interpret technical drawings and specifications.
- Strong attention to detail with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Excellent communication and negotiation skills.
- Ability to work effectively under pressure and meet deadlines.
- A relevant qualification in Quantity Surveying, Civil Engineering, or a related field is preferred.
The role can be based out of Manchester or Dartford. We are specifically looking for candidates who want to enhance their careers and work at the highest level of quality and expertise.
