Laing O'Rourke is seeking an Environment Advisor to support multiple data centre projects across London and the surrounding areas. This is a roving, site-based role, requiring travel between project sites in support of the delivery teams while also contributing to Laing O'Rourke's wider Environmental and Sustainability function.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct strategic analysis, planning, and implementation of environmental requirements, identifying risks and opportunities across projects.
- Embed Laing O'Rourke's energy and environmental management systems, ensuring project compliance with sustainability requirements.
- Identify and secure necessary consents, liaising with relevant authorities to meet project needs.
- Investigate and report environmental incidents and non-conformances, ensuring corrective actions are implemented.
- Collect, analyse, and report environmental performance data, conducting regular site inspections.
- Support project teams to embed contractual and client sustainability requirements, including assessments such as BREEAM and LEED.
- Deliver environmental and energy-related training for project staff and operatives.
- Provide technical advice and support on environmental matters to projects, clients, contractors, and the workforce.
- Champion the company's environmental strategy, driving innovation and best practices across all projects.
About You:
We're looking for a proactive and passionate individual eager to develop their career in environmental management and sustainability within the construction industry. The ideal candidate will bring enthusiasm, strong engagement skills, and a willingness to learn.
Key Skills & Experience:
- A collaborative and influential environmental champion, driving innovation and positive change.
- Strong organisational and time-management skills – a proactive self-starter who can manage workload effectively.
- Ability to take a strategic approach to environmental planning and implement appropriate measures.
- Proficiency in data collation, performance reporting, and Excel.
- Technical knowledge of environmental processes and assessments such as BREEAM.
- Strong stakeholder management, with the ability to communicate effectively and challenge constructively.
- Understanding of ISO14001 and ISO50001 compliance requirements.
- Relevant undergraduate degree in Environmental Management, Sustainability, Environmental Sciences, or a related field and/or membership of ISEP (formerly IEMA) or IES.
