About the Opportunity:
As an Environment Advisor for Expanded, you will provide environmental assurance and support to multiple high-profile infrastructure projects across the Midlands region (Birmingham based). This is a newly created role within the region, reporting to the Environment Manager for Expanded, and forming part of the wider Environmental team and Sustainability function of Laing O'Rourke.
Responsibilities include;
- Ensure work packages are delivered in accordance with contractual, client and our EMS requirements.
- Strategic analysis, planning and implementation of environmental requirements on projects whilst collaborating on the wider business environment strategy.
- Measure and report on our environmental performance and regularly undertake inspections.
- Manage projects with leanness and waste reduction implemented across all processes and procedures.
- Promote the reduction of energy use and carbon emissions, engaging with the project/s and client team/s to identify opportunities for reduction.
- Understand and report on the impacts of materials used both insitu and within the DfMA components utilised on our projects
- Provide technical advice and support in resolving environmental issues to the project/s, clients, contractors and workforce.
- Review and advise on the environmental training required for all project/s staff.
- Champion the implementation of the business environmental strategy, driving innovation and best practise.
About You:
- A collaborative and influential environment champion within the construction industry.
- Full UK driver's licence and vehicle access with the ability to travel/work across various projects.
- Proficient in data collation (excel) and performance reporting.
- Technically familiar with a range of environmental processes and assessments e.g. BREEAM
- Builds relationships and manages stakeholders with ease - effectively communicates, challenges and drives change at all levels.
- Comfortable and confident giving presentations / training / briefings.
- Excellent time-management and organisational skills – a proactive self-starter who can plan, prioritise and manage their workload to meet deadlines.
- Mindset of innovation and change – identifies new ideas and instigates action.
- Membership of IEMA, IES or CIEEM and/or degree educated in a sustainability or construction discipline.
