The Opportunity:
Due to an exciting pipeline of major infrastructure projects we are looking to expand the Advanced Manufacturing Engineering function within Technology & Innovation at Laing O'Rourke with the appointment of a Manufacturing Engineer based from Sherwood Business Park, Nottinghamshire.
The Advanced Manufacturing Engineering function is part of the Laing O'Rourke Technology and Innovation Group (T&I) responsible for developing innovation and utilising transferrable technology from other sectors of relevant scale to transform construction industry methods to improve safety, quality and productivity whilst increasing diversity within our operations.
You will provide technical competence and leadership / support in a manufacturing engineering discipline across new product introduction programmes (NPI) for the development and establishment of world class production systems within Laing O'Rourke's global manufacturing operations. The Principal Engineer role covers responsibility for specific new product process design and development together with delivering equipment technology capability for the required product takt time and capacities.
What will the role look like?
- Providing strong manufacturing discipline leadership to deliver LOR's Advanced manufacturing in construction initiatives.
- Leading for manufacturing engineering LOR's DfMA agenda for New product introductions
- Ensuring compliance with the LOR governance process of MRL 1 to MRL 10 gateways, support or lead the establishment of new manufacturing capabilities, incremental business operations and improvement projects to both new and existing operations, in support of safety, quality, delivery, cost and corporate responsibility objectives.
- From product concept stage to start of production, design, develop and deliver process equipment technology-based solutions that are flexible and reconfigurable and in line with LOR's HSE, quality & productivity improvement targets
- Enforcing manufacturing first principles in design for manufacture, assembly and automation.
- Enforcing process planning and development standards in the construction industry
What skills & experience are we looking for?
- Serial production / product development industry
- Works from 1st principles
- Early involvement in concept product and process design / manufacturing feasibility
- Team work ethic
- Prototype Ebuilds / physical builds / Methods development
- Process equipment technologies and systems experience
- Equipment specs and acceptance testing
- Working with equipment providers and integrators
