Professional Apprenticeship – Sustainability – Whole Life Carbon Data Trainee
We're looking for bright and motivated school leavers who will bring energy, new ideas and a fresh perspective to help us become the recognised leader and transform the construction and engineering industry.
Role Overview
As a Carbon Data Apprentice, you will be part of the Sustainability Function, supporting the Whole Life Carbon team. Guided by your Line Manager and Professional Mentor and working closely with teams across Sustainability and with additional support from the Group Data & Analytics team, you'll play a critical role in supporting major construction projects and sustainability initiatives across our business.
You will be part of the Whole Life Carbon Job Family, which focuses on reducing the carbon impact of our projects and operations while ensuring compliance with planning and contract requirements. You'll work collaboratively to collect, analyse, and report on carbon data, contributing to the alignment of carbon performance across projects at every stage—from pre-project planning to project delivery.
This role offers hands-on experience, mentoring, and learning opportunities to help you develop skills in sustainability, carbon management, and data science principles.
Key Deliverables and Accountabilities
- Build foundational knowledge in sustainability, the carbon impact of construction, and data science.
- Assist in gathering and managing data from internal teams and supply chain partners, ensuring it is accurate and useful.
- Help analyse data to identify trends and opportunities for carbon reduction.
- Contribute to the development of carbon reports that inform decision-making.
- Support your team in fulfilling contractual obligations and meeting carbon management goals.
- Contribute to work-winning activities, for example by preparing data and insights for project bids.
- Ensure compliance with professional standards and help maintain documentation.
What We're Looking For
We're looking for curious and motivated individuals who want to start a career in sustainability and data. You don't need prior experience—just a passion for learning and a willingness to contribute to a collaborative team.
Key qualities include:
- Enthusiasm for sustainability and low-carbon solutions.
- A keen interest in data and its role in problem-solving.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills.
- Attention to detail and a willingness to learn.
We welcome applications from all backgrounds and are committed to providing the training and support you need to succeed.
