2025 Graduate - Sustainability Environmental Assistant (5127)

Job Title: Graduate Environmental Sustainability Assistant

We're looking for bright and committed graduates who will bring energy, new ideas and a fresh perspective to help us become the recognised leader and transform the construction and engineering industry.  

 Role Overview

As part of the Environmental Sustainability function, you will be working closely alongside and shadowing a more experienced Environmental Advisor, supporting with site inspections, data collection, reporting, and environmental auditing.

Whilst under supervision, the role will include working within project teams, engaging, and communicating across functions to ensure that the Laing O'Rourke Environmental Management System requirements are adhered to.  You will also assist with and ensure all the environmental requirements (legal and contractual) are being met.

 Key Deliverables and Accountabilities  

  • Assisting the sustainability function
  • Implementation of company Environmental Management System
  • Undertaking and supporting environmental sustainability duties including site inspections and audits
  • Assisting with the preparation of environmental plans and reports
  • Collection and reporting of monthly waste, water and energy data
  • Communicating clearly and confidently to a professional standard
  • Promoting environmental initiatives and driving best practice

 Location  

South of England and the Midlands

 Preferred Degree Subjects   

Environmental Management or a Science.

 

Professional Accreditation  

Institute of Environmental Management and Assessment (IEMA) or similar

 Entry requirements

We are looking for graduates who meet the following criteria: 

  • Eligible to work in the UK with a valid work permit if applicable
  • Full mobility as you may be required to relocate for your role
  • Strong numeracy and literacy skills
  • A degree course with a clear route to professional accreditation
  • Your degree classification should be 2:2 or higher
