Apprenticeship – ICT Network Installer  

 Location: London and North of England  

 What is an ICT Network Installer? 

Crown House Technologies - Enterprise Solutions are part of the Laing O'Rourke construction group. We design and deliver specialist systems for the mechanical, electrical and public health (MEP) part of the group including Building Energy Management Systems (BEMS), Security Systems (CCTV, Access Control, Intruder Alarms), Information Communications Technology (ICT) and Lighting Control (LCS).

 They will work within the ICt team under the guidance of design and project Engineers, alongside site supervisors and managers. 

 We are looking for high calibre candidates with ambition, enthusiasm and drive to make an impact. You must have strong technical acumen coupled with a positive interest in engineering & technology. You will also have a professional approach and a keen eye for detail; excellent communication and IT skills are also vital for the role. 

 Our apprentices are given the opportunity to gain a broad experience within our business.  

 Role Profile and Accountabilities of a ICt Network Installer Apprentice 

  • To be an active & contributory member of the Crown House Enterprise Solutions team. 
  • To be able to learn and understand the ICt scope and the interaction in relation with al MEP specifications 
  • Interpret detailed project plans to construct and fix network equipment cabinets, prepare cable pathways, and install cable support and containment systems 
  • To gain the knowledge and skills to confidently install, test and certify copper and fibre cable installations whilst working to the correct standards and best practices. 
  • Plan individual tasks and materials required accurately and with confidence 
  • Have the desired levels of competency and confidence to install Smart Building technology such as wireless access devices, VoIP telephony, CCTV cameras, door access controls and biometric security systems. 
  • Undertake performance-based testing and provision of certification to the customer. During the lifespan of the network, carry out maintenance where faults have occurred 
  • To assist in production of as built documentation and contribute to Operation and Maintenance manuals as required.  
  • To work in a high pressure and fast-moving environment 
  • Collaborative working with other LOR business units to achieve shared end goals. 
  • Adhere to all company policies & procedures, particularly to health & safety 
  • To continue your professional development. 

 The Laing O'Rourke Apprenticeship programme - what can you expect? 

 The Trade and Technical Apprenticeship programme provides you with a formal college education, leading to a Level 2 and/or 3 apprenticeship standard in your chosen vocation. You will also gain a broad set of trade technical skills through on-the-job training, supported by our qualified and experienced workforce, and construction professionals. A dedicated mentor and approved training provider will work closely with you, providing regular feedback on your progress towards completing your apprenticeship. 

Entry requirements 

We are looking for candidates who meet the following criteria:  

  • You must be eligible to work in the UK with a valid work permit     
  • Entry grades will be listed within each job description, and they will differ from role to role    
  • To qualify for this programme, you will need to have a minimum Maths and English at Level 2
