Job title: Heating and Ventilation Pipe Fitter Apprentice

 What is a heating and ventilation pipe fitter?

For this role you will be based permanently in our off-site manufacturing centre in Oldbury, working as part of a team you will assist experienced tradespeople with the installation of mechanical service modules for delivery to one of our many UK wide projects. These service modules are then installed by a separate on-site LOR team to create exciting new builds, such as, hospitals, schools and airports. As a mechanical pipe fitter, you would be part of a delivery focused assembly team that are provided steel frames with various shapes and sizes of welded pipe work from other areas of production, using modern installation methods and working from a fixed design you will be tasked to install the pipework into the frames. You will be assembling a range of different pipe work services, from smaller fabrications to larger packaged plant rooms, learning the principles of valve arrangements and mechanical plant. Traditional and modern pipe fitting skills will be gained, fabrication and install techniques will be learnt, every day you will be at the heart of delivering one of our several exciting projects.

The Laing O'Rourke Trade and Technical Apprenticeship programme - what can you expect?

 The Trade and Technical Apprenticeship programme provides you with a formal college education, leading to a Level 2 and/or 3 apprenticeship standards in your chosen vocation. You will also gain a broad set of trade technical skills through on-the-job training, supported by our qualified and experienced workforce, and construction professionals. A dedicated mentor and approved training provider will work closely with you, providing regular feedback on your progress towards completing your apprenticeship

What are we looking for?

We are looking for people with a genuine interest in construction and the built environment. The ideal candidate will be enthusiastic and ambitious, with the potential to progress to a supervisory / management role over a five-to-ten-year period.

Entry requirements

  • Eligibility without restrictions to work in the UK with a valid work permit if applicable.
  • Full mobility to enable travel to various project locations
  • 5 GCSEs - preferably grades 7-4 in Maths and English
